Best Strategy Games for Brainiacs

Strategy games are an excellent way of developing mental skills. These games require strategy, planning, critical thinking, and time management. There are various types of strategy games – some involve military strategy, while others are economic strategy or social media strategy.

Playing these games can be very beneficial for people who work in these fields because they can get valuable insights into how to approach different situations in their professional life. Some people play strategy games to improve their decision-making skills or develop creativity and problem-solving skills.

Nevertheless, they can be challenging for beginners because of the complexity and the amount of information that you need to process. Some games even require you to think about up to five moves ahead. All these things make strategy games difficult for beginners.

That’s why we’ve compiled a list of some of our favorite strategy games, which do not require much skill but are still enjoyable. With these at your disposal, you can start building up your strategic thinking skills without worrying about losing every game – it’s all about practice!

Age of Empires 2

Age of Empires 2 is one of the best-selling games in history. It is available for PC and Linux operating systems. The first thing that needs to be said about Age of Empires 2 is that it is a classic RTS game. If you have never played a real-time strategy before then you’ll probably want to spend some time in the tutorials before jumping into this one.

The objective of the game is to establish a civilization from prehistory. Players control one of 13 civilizations available in the game, each with different abilities and technologies. Players explore their surroundings, gather information about other players, and compete against them for resources and territory.

The visuals are a bit dated at this point but they still hold up pretty well considering how old they are now. You also have a few different modes that you can play including single-player mode or multiplayer mode with your friends.

Overall, The Age of Empires 2 is a game with the perfect mix of fun and strategy. It provides a rich and entertaining experience to players who enjoy turn-based strategic gameplay. It’s worth playing the game to see how it has progressed from its original version and where it could go in the future.

Civilization VI

Civilization VI is the latest in the series of turn-based strategy games, offering players the chance to control one of 18 civilizations throughout history and lead it from ancient times to the modern-day.

The game is a turn-based strategy game, meaning that players take turns with opponents to complete their tasks. Mechanically, Civilization VI is very similar to The Age of Empires 2. Since the games are both strategy games, they share a lot of similarities. But, they also have some key differences too.

Age of Empires is set in the Stone Age and has you lead your people to prosperity by building an empire up from nothing. Civilization VI, on the other hand, first takes place in the Ancient Era and has you competing with other civilizations to see who will become the eventual leader of Earth after it’s inevitably destroyed.

Age of Empires is more about building an empire than it is about conquering one. It focuses on small-scale battles instead of large-scale ones and offers you access to many different types of troops that can be combined together to create your own unique fighting style. Civilization VI focuses mostly on war and conquest.

StarCraft

SC2 is a competitive, strategy game with an interface that is easy for beginners to pick up and learn. The graphics are detailed and complex, but not overwhelming. At this point, no AI is assisting the player in the game.

StarCraft is a game that has aged really well, thanks to its rock-solid gameplay, rich lore, and vibrant community. The mechanics are still enjoyable because very few other 4x games have come out since then. The game is also easy to get into because you only need one other person to play the game with you.

StarCraft still has a very active community today because it’s one of the most popular games on Twitch. There are plenty of people who stream their games for hours on end and talk about strategies with other players in the chatrooms.

XCOM 2

The XCOM 2 is a one-of-a-kind game, which has been designed to offer players an immersive and thrilling gaming experience. The game, which is the sequel to the 2012’s critically acclaimed XCOM: Enemy Unknown, is set 20 years after the events of its predecessor, with players taking control of a squad of human soldiers defending Earth from alien invaders.

Players will have to combat five different invading alien species, each with their own unique abilities and tactics. The aliens are initially spread around the world where they establish beachheads, but eventually, they reunite in an attempt to overcome humanity.

Players can also create customized soldiers using weapons and armor that have been recovered from previous missions, along with upgrades that are unlocked as the game progresses. Battles take place on procedurally generated maps featuring destructible environments.
